LIcensed Marriage and Family Therapist

David is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He has a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, California, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. David is a certified instructor of Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.). He has served as the Executive Director of the Center for Studies of the Person (CSP), founded by American psychologist Carl Rogers, and as Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Turning Point Center for Families in Orange County.

David has over 10 years of experience co-facilitating person-centered men’s and women’s encounter groups with Rogers’ peers and founding members of the Center. He also has a long history working with Gestalt Therapy methodologies.

From small acorns, mighty oak trees grow. Metaphorically speaking, this applies aptly to each and every one of us. Fertile soil for the psyche involves nurturing relationships that begin in childhood and continue through adulthood, as Rogers in the 60’s and contemporary 21st century psychotherapy attest.

Depth psychology, for its own part, provides a pathway to understanding how people become stuck in both their relationships and careers, and how aspects of individual psychological history leaves many experiencing painful symptoms of anxiety and depression. We can easily observe this in Southern California living, where divorce, social anxiety, eating disorders, and substance abuse abound.

Understanding and application of not one, but both principles of a person-centered experience and depth psychological insight in therapeutic practice, pave the way for relief.

My fees for a 50-minute session are $295 for individual and $395 for couples and families. Longer sessions are available.

“The person-centered experience, combined with the insights informed by psychodynamic and depth psychology provide the perfect admix of therapeutic components to help my clients both feel into, and understand the source of what ills in personal, family, and work life. Each and every one of us ends up stuck and unable to move forward at various stages of life – adolescence, starting a family, midlife, and beyond.

Finding a therapist with both personal experience and therapeutic expertise can sometimes seem impossible. Success, however, can start a process of moving forward towards a new beginning, and a life of value and meaning.”
